Auditions May 26 & 27, NEW YORK
World Premier of New Rock Opera “One Way Trip to Mars”
Imagine yourself as the originator of a role for a new Broadway Bound Rock Opera.
Looking for Actor/Singers, Actor/Singer/Dancers
for world premier production of a new Maine Based Rock Opera. Rock Opera will be performed at the Waterville Opera House, August 24, 26, 27 and 28.
The Rock Opera is similar in style to: Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, Ziggy Stardust, Chess, The Great Comet. (more info about the show can be found at http://www.onewaytriptomars.us/)

Male Lead: Paolo
ACTOR—astronaut/pilot –early 40’s, Cassandra’s husband, ability to move a plus
Vocal range: Tenor — 2 octave B – B. Must sing Rock (in style of Roger Daltry, David Bowie…), guitarist a plus but not necessary (if so virtuoso lead guitar preferred)

Female Lead: Cassandra
ACTOR—astronaut/scientist –late 30’s, Paolo’s wife, ability to move a plus
Vocal Range: Alto – Mezzo Soprano. must sing folk-rock, rock and blues (in the style of Annie Lenox, Ann Wilson, Sheryl Crow…)

Male Supporting Lead: Hector
ACTOR—Mission Control director—40’s-60’s, Paolo’s best friend, ability to move a plus Vocal Range: Baritone – Tenor 2 octave A – A; must sing Rock/Blues (in the style of Paul McCartney, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, Otis Redding, Charles Bradley…)

Female Supporting Lead: Madeleine
ACTOR—Botanist/Naturalist—mid to late 30’s– Cassandra’s sister, ability to move a plus. Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano / Soprano. Must sing Folk, Jazz and/or Rock (in the style of Sara McLaughlin, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell…)

CHORUS PARTS (three men, three women):
Actors/Singers/Dancers: will portray NASA STAFF, MEDIA, and GENERAL PUBLIC Must sing harmony (in styles of Broadway, Folk, Blues, Rock)
Vocal Ranges: men Baritone to tenor; women Alto to Soprano
Understudies for lead roles will be cast from chorus.

If selected for an audition you will be sent further instructions, including scores to practice, and notified by email of your audition time.
(Please indicate if you have a preferred time and we will try to accommodate you.)

Important Info:
All performers will receive a small stipend for their work in the show. All performers will need to be available starting August 7 for 3 weeks of rehearsal and 1 week of the performances. Most rehearsals will be in the evenings and on weekends with the exception of final week. Afternoon/Evening rehearsals will be necessary Tuesday and Wednesday (dress) week of the show. Performances Thursday, Friday & Saturday evening, Sunday Matinee, and possible additional matinee on Saturday, depending on ticket sales. All performers will be expected to help move scenery during the show.
Some chorus members will be understudies for the principle roles.
